As I don't update this very often, I want to make sure everyone knows that we have a website and that is the best place to find information.  I do update this if I get anything during the month that families should know about but that isn't very often.

Wow so its been a long time!!!

Boy,  I haven't had anything to post on here in forever!  I didn't even realize how long it had been!  O'Hana Kids News has gone through lots of growth in the past 6 months and is now over 60 pages strong each and every month.

You will notice I did away with all the pages for the individual towns and just went with Central/Western Nebraska Edition and Eastern Edition pages.  This way any updates that I put up during the month, you can click on just the right one hopefully making it easier to access.

I am going to be putting a few items up today in these spots.  So make sure you stop back by to check out the updates.

Also make sure you LIKE us on Facebook as I put alot of tips and events that are posted by other agencies up on our page if they are applicable.

You probably know that the editions themselves are just put on the website at www.ohanakidsnews.com each month.  This is by far the fastest and easiest way for you to get the editions and for me to get them out :)

Added some changes this am

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that I added a NEW resource for families.  Yoga for the Special Child, and I put their information in the Resources Page AND in the Added after publication page so you could find them easier!

I also had an email wrong on the Nebraska Respite Network that I changed, so that is in the Resources for FAmilies make sure to check that out.

Eastern Information DONE

All the Eastern Nebraska information is up and  DONE! I know it says it hasn't been updated since September but it is updated, the blog is just being silly with the date.  So all Omaha, Lincoln, Classifieds, State-Wides, Eastern Tidbits have all been updated.

Updating December 2012 Information

Hey everyone!

I will be working on updating all the information for OKN December, TONIGHT, 12/6//12.  I am adding some new resources as well (they will be in RED this month so you can see them)!  As always you can get all this information on our website at www.ohanakidsnews.com Just click on the Editions page, and the December editions are listed at the bottom of that page, click on whichever edition you would like to view.  You can download em, save em or print em, whatever you would like to do!

Have a Great Mother's Day Weekend

I hope all of you mom's out there are having a wonderful weekend, I know it just started but if you are like me you hit the ground running again today :).  My hope for Mother's Day this year is to go nowhere! No running around here and there, just to be at home with my family.  We plan on putting in our garden tomorrow afternoon, to me that is totally relaxing.  I love to garden, as it is a stress reliever for me.  It gives me a great sense of accomplishment, when I can harvest that which I have been taking care of, and use it to feed my family.  I do alot of canning, so my harvests are used throughout the year.  There is just nothing better than to be able to pull out a jar of tomato sauce and know I grew them, and then feed it to my family.  I don't know about all of you, but I love to garden.  Of course, it is in my blood.  I grew up farming, and now my husband and I are just starting to break off on our own.  :)  Well that is my Mother's Day plan, I hope that you have something relaxing planned for your Mother's Day!!!  Have a great one!

Everything Updated!!!

Ok, so everything has been updated.  I do have a couple of AFTER PUBLICATION changes that I have to get updated so watch for those.  Make sure to read through everything carefully.  The one thing I want to point out, is the Omaha Zoo has something going on that families need to definitely take note of, so look under Omaha Upcoming Events on June 1 to see that information.

I will post when I have any changes that I make to AFTER PUBLICATION changes page!! Watch for those.

Whine to Roses Added

Hey everyone!

I added a new event under the After Publication Changes page, for Whine to Roses.  Make sure you check it out, it is on the 24th of this month!!

I can't believe that we are already halfway through September, where does the time go.  I hope that everyone is doing well, and in good health.

As a Christian, I know that there are many times that I need prayer just to get me through the day.  I know that Jesus Christ my Savior is there for me and that I just need to trust that.  Having a child with many special needs can really take its toll on us.  I know that God has chosen us to bear the burden of having a child with special needs, as there are only "special" people out there who have been given the gift of bearing this "blessing".  I look at my son on a daily basis and think, I can't get this done, and I can't get that done for him (ya know like, putting him in the stander 3x for 30 min, I may only get it done once), I feel burdened by that.  As though I can't do enough for him. But then I look at him, and know he is happy.  I do my best, and that is what I can do.  God knows this and He watches out for Zeph, I know it.  Every day I pray for the strength to do what Zeph and my other children need me to do.  I am not perfect, I can't get everything done and am lucky to get the laundry washed.  But God gave me this blessing of a son, and I love him so much.

If you ever just need someone to pray for you, shoot me an email ohanakidsnews@yahoo.com and I will do that.  I pray for ya'll in general daily, because this is a "blessing" that only certain special people get the chance to do, however it is tough at many levels and many times.  Know today, that you are in my prayers and if you ever need me, I am there!

School Has Started

Well I can't believe that the school year is here already!  But that means that the September edition of O'Hana Kids News is just around the corner.  Be watching for the next month's events to come up here next week!  Until then have a great weekend!!

EASTER SEALS MOBILE DAY CAMP LOCATION HAS MOVED!!!

Hey everyone!
Just letting you know that the Easter Seals Day Camp has moved from Holmes Lake to Pioneers Park in Southwest Lincoln.  When you go into Pioneers Park, you go past the Pinewood Bowl and Large Indian Statue.  It will now be in Area #2, and it will be close to the parking lot.  If you want more information please call me at 402-440-2602 so that I can give you the exact information I have, or email me at ohanakidsnews@yahoo.com and I will get that information to you.  If you know of someone who is thinking about going, please make sure they know about the change!!! Oh, also Godfather's Pizza will be providing lunch for everyone for FREE!!  Cool huh?!

August Happening and a NEW look :)

So this is definitely a work in progress.  With adding more and more territory, it has become necessary to do things by city, rather than by date.  Otherwise we would all be looking through everything, for an item that we wanted to do.  So the new look is, that the pages are organized by city.  I still have the updates through the month page, that will encompass everything, however new items added throughout the month will also be added to the city page also.  So now the pages will go in this order: Current Month Happenings, Upcoming Happenings in that order.  I will keep the Resources for families page also.  There isn't a great way to break that up yet.  So I am going to get those up TODAY!!! I promise.  Also, please spread the word about the blog.  Not very many people are seeing it, and i hope to have it become the "Facebook" page, where everyone is seeing this.  So pass it along.  As always, any comments or suggestions are appreciated. I'm just a mom who had an idea that exploded, :), so I can use all the help I can get, lol.  Have a wonderful THURSDAY!!!

As I am looking over the blog for August upcoming events to go up, I realized that my July events and changed DIDN'T SAVE!!! I do apologize, as I thought for sure it was all taken care of.  Little did I know that I must've been in such a hurry I didn't get it saved.  O well, but I will make sure that the August ones make it up. Should be next week, so be on the lookout!!
